The Speaker in Dreams

“Can you hear it, penitent ones? Join us. What is a drop of water, compared to the storm? What is a thought, compared to a mind? Our unity is full of wonder, which your tiny individualism cannot even conceive. We do not know death, only change. You seek your false Gods, but you cannot find them. You are so very alone. How does it feel to be one, against the infinite? Submit. Add your voice to our choir. Embrace the song of stars.”

“The Speaker in Dreams” is a mysterious entity that is thought to dwell in The Astral Sea among the vast dark expanse of Ibhar, near Caiphon. Very little is known of this creature, save that it has the power to contact minds through The Region of Dreams and offers mortals tainted pacts in exchange for submission to its whims.

The entity often speaks of a “harmony” composed of “endless voices” in a “choir of the infinite,” singing in a “symphony of infinity.” It tries to convince those it contacts to join “the song of stars,” a cult composed of “those who hear” and work its will in The World. It seems to be interested in urging its minions to create portals that it can send its “children” (horrific Aberrations for the most part) though, and also crafting a portal strong enough for it to come through itself.

Thus far cults of “those who hear” are rare and isolated, and have caused little damage. Thus far.

“The Speaker in Dreams” is given a mention in The Revelations of Melech. The Revelations also mention a creature known as Nyarael, listing it as a herald of the Speaker, bringing its revelation to the far corners of reality.
